DEDODESIGN Architects (DDA) is an award-winning collective of architects, makers and creatives based in Hong Kong, London, Shanghai and Venice.
The practice has an extensive experience of working in many languages and cultural contexts across Asia, Europe and North America.
Since its foundation in 2001, DDA has developed a diverse international body of work of all scales including cultural, civic, residential, commercial as well as master planning projects.
Its institutional clients include the government of the Chinese province of Anhui and the French and Portuguese governments in Shanghai. DDA has also worked with a diverse range of global and multinational corporations including Maserati, Ferrari, General Electrics, ABB, Groupon, iGuzzini and l’Oreal.
Committed to design innovation and new practices in architecture, DDA’s work explores the relationship between ecologies and technologies.
It strives to implement new forms of urbanism in Shanghai and other megacities. Its research based living architecture and urbanism project EDIBLE CITIES, showcased at Shanghai’s Trans-design and Shanghai Art and Design 2016 at West Bund, has received numerous national and international accolades.
DDA is a WFOE (Wholly Foreign Owned Enterprise) with a business license registered in China.
Nunzia Carbone is an Italian designer and architect based in Shanghai and Venice.
She has worked in New York City, in South East Asia and since 2001 she is the principal and founder DEDODESIGN Architects.
Her work encompasses all fields of design, ranging from urban scale through to products, interiors and furniture. Central to her concerns is a simultaneous engagement in practice and creative research. She is passionate about innovation, technology and ecology.
All her projects have a sustainable and multi-disciplinary mission.
In 2013 she initiated a research base project called Ediblecities as a response to the food and environmental challenges posed by the unprecedented scale of urbanization process.
Carbone has more than twenty-five years of experience in design and management with special emphasis on projects with complex programmatic requirements.
In 2016 her work was showcased at the International exhibition, “21st Century Design after Design”, in Milan at the Triennale Museum.
Nunzia’s projects are published in magazines and monographs, including Domus International, Dwell, Interni, Elle Decoration, Case da Abitare and Global Times. The New York Times has described her design for the CELLULA LIGHT as “a modern classic.”
Architect and artist, Zhao Yue was educated at Tsinghua University, University of Southern California and the School of the Art Institute in Chicago. He holds a Master degree in architecture and he is a registered architect in the United States.
Zhao Yue has more than twenty years experience in architecture and urban design. His design approach aims to respond to both the urban and the human scale providing a balance between the public and the private.
He has practiced in several internationally distinguished design firms in the United Sates and in China, including HGA’s Los Angeles office and Arata Isozaki & Associates’ Shanghai office.
In 2003 he established ZG SQUARED LLC in Los Angeles where he accomplished a numerous of projects of urban planning and architecture characterized by a creative design and the exploration of expression of building materials.
Zhao Yue has participated in many art exhibitions, most recently at the Shanghai Museum of Glass in 2016.
In 2012 Zhao Yue jointed DDA as a design partner to lead the firm’s architectural design practice.
